Tres Caminos is an album by Pedro Barboza in which jazz converses naturally with Venezuelan rhythms.
The identity of the project comes from a deep relationship with those roots and from a personal way of bringing them into composition and improvisation. More than a sum of influences, the album develops a language in which rhythm transforms the music from within, giving each piece its own character, drive and breathing.
Produced by Juancho Herrera, Tres Caminos brings together compositions by Pedro Barboza that take shape through the musical encounter with Yrvis Méndez and Pancho Montañez. The result is a work with identity, rhythmic depth and real interaction between the musicians.
Although the concert programme is currently presented mainly in a trio format, the album’s universe is broader and leaves room for different sonic approaches, including solo guitar moments and more open formats.
Tres Caminos can be presented at festivals, clubs, cultural centres and specialised series, both as a concert and within broader artistic programmes.
La Gran Brisa is the first recording by guitarist and composer Pedro Barboza: an album of original compositions that inhabit the language of jazz with a strong presence of Afro-Venezuelan rhythms.
Its strength comes from the connection between the members of the quartet — French saxophonist Gilles Grivolla and Venezuelans Heriberto Rojas on double bass and Abelardo Bolaño on drums — whose interaction sustains the album from beginning to end.
